Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-22

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of AzerothAuctions, a free, read-only, fan-made statistics service for the World of Warcraft auction house. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of the Terms

These Terms are made available through a link in the footer of every page on azerothauctions.com and are equally accessible to users of the API. By visiting azerothauctions.com, calling the public REST API at api.azerothauctions.com, or otherwise interacting with the Service, you confirm that you have had a reasonable opportunity to take note of these Terms and that you have read, understood, and accepted them. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation.

We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes are reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction to use the Service. In Germany and most other EU member states this is 16 years, in line with Art. 8 GDPR; some member states have set the threshold lower (down to 13 years). If you are below the age of majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

3. The Service

AzerothAuctions provides:

  • A web dashboard at azerothauctions.com showing live auction-house listings, price history, deals, arbitrage spreads, and related analytics across the EU, US, KR, and TW regions of World of Warcraft.
  • A public REST API at api.azerothauctions.com exposing the same data in machine-readable form.

The Service is offered free of charge and is intended for personal, non-commercial use. There are no user accounts, no registration, and no paid tiers on the public website. Optional API keys may be issued at our discretion to support higher-volume programmatic access; their issuance, scope, and revocation are entirely at our discretion.

The Service is a fan-made tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or specifically approved by Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.

4. Intellectual Property

4.1 Our content

The Service’s source code, design, layout, branding (“AzerothAuctions”, “The Goblin Ledger”), aggregated analytics, derived datasets, and all material we create are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial purposes. You may view, share links, and screenshot the Service for personal communication. You may not:

  • copy, scrape, mirror, or systematically extract data from the website or API beyond ordinary, fair-use access through the documented endpoints;
  • modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service;
  • redistribute, sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit data obtained through the Service without prior written permission;
  • remove, hide, or alter any copyright, trademark, or attribution notices.

4.2 Blizzard content

World of Warcraft, character names, item names, item icons, realm names, the Battle.net Web API responses, and all related text, graphics, and trademarks (“Blizzard Content”) are the property of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. We display Blizzard Content under Blizzard’s published Web API and Fan Site policies. All rights to Blizzard Content remain with Blizzard Entertainment.

4.3 Third-party content

Some data is sourced from public third-party datasets (e.g. Wago.tools DB2 exports). Those datasets remain the property of their respective owners and are used in accordance with their terms.

5. Acceptable Use

When using the Service, you agree not to:

  • access the API outside the published rate limits, or evade rate limiting through key rotation, distributed requests, or other technical means;
  • use automated systems, bots, scrapers, or crawlers in a way that imposes an unreasonable load on the Service or interferes with other users;
  • mirror or republish substantial portions of the data without our prior written permission;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to any portion of the Service, related systems, or other users’ data;
  • interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to compromise the security or integrity of the Service;
  • systematically scrape, harvest, or extract substantial portions of our data, our derived analytics, or our database (which is protected as a database under § 87a UrhG / Art. 7 of Directive 96/9/EC) for the purpose of building a substantially similar product;
  • use the Service in violation of Blizzard’s Terms of Service, End-User License Agreement, or Web API Terms of Use;
  • use the Service to facilitate any unlawful activity, including real-money trading (RMT) of in-game items in jurisdictions where that is prohibited;
  • impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • harass, threaten, or abuse our staff, our community channels, or other users;
  • use the Service in any manner that violates applicable local, national, or international law.

We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, restrict, throttle, suspend, or terminate access for any user, IP address, or API key that we reasonably believe is in breach of these Terms.

6. API Access and Rate Limits

Public, anonymous access to the API is permitted within published rate limits. Heavier programmatic access requires an API key, which we issue at our discretion. API keys are personal — sharing or reselling them is not permitted, and we may revoke any key at any time without notice.

The published rate limits, endpoints, and response shapes may change without notice. We make no promise that any specific endpoint, field, or limit will remain stable. We will, however, attempt to communicate breaking changes through the OpenAPI specification at /docs.

7. No Warranties — “As-Is” Service

The Service is provided free of charge, on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law — and subject to mandatory warranty rights that consumers retain under their national law (including, in Germany, §§ 521, 599 BGB for gratuitous provision) — we disclaim all express or implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted operation.

We do not warrant that:

  • the Service will be available at any given time, error-free, or free of bugs;
  • prices, quantities, or any other figures shown are accurate, complete, or current — they reflect snapshots of the upstream Battle.net API, which can be delayed, partial, or incorrect;
  • decisions you make based on data shown by the Service will be profitable or correct.

The Service is informational only. Do not treat it as financial advice, even for in-game gold.

You assume all risk for any in-game decision you make in reliance on the Service.

8. Limitation of Liability

The Service is offered free of charge. Our liability is structured as follows:

  • We are liable without limitation for damages caused by intent or gross negligence; for damages arising from injury to life, body, or health; under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz); and to the extent we have assumed a guarantee.
  • For damages caused by slight negligence resulting from a breach of an essential contractual obligation (so-called Kardinalpflicht), our liability is limited to the typical, foreseeable damage at the time the agreement was concluded.
  • Any further liability for slight negligence is excluded. In particular, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, in-game currency or items, or goodwill, where such damages result from slight negligence and do not affect an essential contractual obligation.

The above limitations apply equally to claims against our affiliates, contributors, and agents. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable mandatory law.

9. Indemnification

If you use the Service for purposes that can be attributed to your commercial or self-employed professional activity (i.e. you are an Unternehmerwithin the meaning of § 14 BGB), you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator, our affiliates, contributors, and agents from any third-party claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your misuse of the Service, or (c) your violation of any law or third-party right, including Blizzard Entertainment’s terms.

If you are a consumer within the meaning of § 13 BGB, this section does not apply; your liability towards us is governed exclusively by general statutory law.

10. Third-Party Services and Links

The Service integrates or links to third-party services, including but not limited to:

  • the Battle.net Web API and the Blizzard render CDN (item and realm data, item icons);
  • Wago.tools (game-data enrichment);
  • Cloudflare (content delivery, DDoS protection);
  • Umami (self-hosted analytics);
  • Discord (community channel, off-site link).

We are not responsible for the content, terms, or practices of any third-party service. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and policies.

11. Modifications and Discontinuation of the Service

We may, at any time and without prior notice:

  • modify, update, or discontinue any part of the Service or any feature thereof;
  • restrict, suspend, or terminate access for any user, IP, or API key;
  • change or remove these Terms.

We have no liability to you or any third party for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, without notice and without liability, for any reason, including without limitation if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms. Upon termination, the provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive (e.g. intellectual-property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) will continue to apply.

13. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

We do not stipulate a contractual place of jurisdiction. The competent court is determined by the applicable statutory rules (in Germany, §§ 12 ff. ZPO; for cross-border consumer disputes within the European Union, Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012 — the “Brussels I Recast Regulation”). If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected.

The European Commission provides an online dispute-resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/. We are not obliged and not willing to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force, and the invalid provision will be replaced by a valid one that comes closest to the intent of the original.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements, oral or written, regarding the same subject matter.
